BLUE BIENNALE 2023, “OXYMORON”

LOCATION: Brasov, Roumanie

In a duplicitous world with complex meanings, sometimes in antithesis, in a polarized and agitated society of contrasts and dichotomies, of everyday paradoxes deeply infused with divisions and disjunctions, we propose to explore together this exciting theme: OXYMORON.

Oxymoron is a term borrowed from ancient Greek, a figure of speech that combines in the same phrase two incongruent, seemingly incompatible terms, contradictory attributes, with surprising effects, to enhance the expression and character in creating powerful images. Oxymoron is a rhetorical figure through which we aim to reflect on the issues of the contemporary world, on duality, tensions, and diversity found in the complex reality we live in or in the very kaleidoscopic nature of human beings, with eternal dilemmas and perpetual confrontations in the struggle between life and death.

The Blue Biennial is a project of the Artessentia Cultural Association, financed by the County Council of Brasov and co-financed by the City Hall of Brasov.
